We are beginning to arrive in the one of the most beautiful times of the year in the southeast region of the United States. I am anticipating the change of season into fully sunny days and green grass at every turn. With spring comes one of the most exciting, traditional, and coveted events of the year for professional golf; The Masters. Every year The Masters is held in Augusta, Georgia at the famed Augusta National Golf Club. It is an event that only former champions, PGA Tour winners from the year leading up to the event, prestigious amateur events, and rare special invitations from the committee may play in. There is something about this event that says that spring is finally here.

The Masters is the most coveted golf event a professional or amateur could ever capture and the winner of the event will live long in history and lore. If you have ever been lucky enough to visit the golf course there is simply nothing like it. The course conditions are far and above anything you will ever see.  It is quite frankly mesmerizing to walk the property and the course evokes all of the emotion of why we love to play this game. The Masters is a sign that the season of golf may now formally begin. As golfers we crave this time of year to dust off the clubs, wipe away all of the dormant Bermuda grass and begin to sharpen our skills.

Being here in the NC mountains we truly live in one of the most beautiful places in the country. We have fantastic weather, great golf courses and simply put some of the most friendly, caring people you will find anywhere. So while you are getting ready for the changing season remember how truly lucky we are to have two terrific golf courses to play this wonderful game on. While none of us will ever be able to play in The Masters but we can still re-enact all of the famous shots played throughout its amazing history. Will you attempt the shot of Tiger Woods from 2005 on #16, the miraculous shot from Bubba Watson in 2012 from the trees, or will you simply try to make a 10 footer to claim you are the Masters champion? Whatever you do and wherever you do it, remember, you are one of the lucky ones that can go outside and play this wonderful game.

So as the azaleas begin to bloom we can only dream of shooting our lowest score ever this year, or making that elusive hole-in-one, or even making our first birdie. That is what makes this game so unique is that it changes everyday and we will always have tomorrow to try again.

So I urge you and challenge you to play more golf than you did in previous years and let us make this the most exciting, fun year of golf you have ever had. It is up to you to do the rest.

See you at the golf course and keep it in the fairway!
