John and Paula Moore have lived in Lake Lure full time since 1998. John, owner of an asset management company, grew up a short drive away in Spartanburg, SC and traveled to the area frequently while Paula, a former flight attendant, spent much of her time enjoying the beautiful waters and calm mountain scenery in the home her parents owned on the lake. With the love of the area engrained in their hearts, they found themselves wondering, “Why should we wait until we retire to live in Lake Lure?” So they decided to press fast forward and purchase a home on the lake in an area they love, to raise their son Keifer.

In love as they were with their home on the lake, John and Paula spent some time living in Flat Rock, NC to better accommodate the proximity to their son’s school. During this time they rented out their house on the lake.  When a new school opened up in Rutherfordton, just a short drive from Lake Lure, the couple jumped at the chance to move back permanently to the area.

Wishing to keep their home on the lake as a rental, John and Paula contacted Lyn Weaver, a good friend of Paula’s and real estate professional in the area, to help them find their new home. Knowing John and Paula as well as she did and with great connections as a Beverly-Hanks agent inside Rumbling Bald Resort, Lyn found the perfect home for the Moore family nestled in hills of the Resort and alongside the flowing trout stream. John and Paula were thrilled and excited to explore life on the north end of Lake Lure.

In contrast to their home on the lake itself, John and Paula take full advantage of life in the Resort. They have convenient access to the lake but can easily enjoy the subtle mountain scenery. Paula raves about the amenities, from the dining options, and outdoor activities to the salon and spa.  She can easily rent the Lakeside Pavilion for her 11 year old son’s sports’ banquet or invite friends for an amazing meal at Lakeview. Their active son Keifer can easily ride his bike to the tennis courts, beach and pool and explore the area with his friends.

John still owns his business in Spartanburg which he runs remotely from the technological comfort of his iPhone and is a member of the Lake Lure town council.  Paula is heavily involved in the community and above taking Keifer to and from his activities, spends much of her time volunteering.  She is one of two female first responders at the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department. Both John and Paula are active in their church and participate in many groups and activities in the Lake Lure community including the popular Olympiad sports festival and Dragonboat festival.

To anyone considering relocating or retiring in the Resort, John and Paula are adamant that there is no place more beautiful to live. It’s a “little piece of heaven, they say. “You can be as busy as you like or unplug completely and just enjoy the beauty of the area”. It’s a wonderful place to raise children or to enjoy the life of a retirees. Go ahead and make the jump! Contact an agent at the Resort and begin the search for your perfect mountain home or getaway!
