THE FIRST LIGHT FINDS US: There’s something about mornings here that never quite feels the same twice.

Before the first tee time is even a thought, before coffee is poured or the day begins to take shape, Rumbling Bald is already putting on a show. The light finds the mountain first, stretching across the face of Bald Mountain and bringing it to life in a way most never get to see. Quiet. Still. The kind of moment you don’t plan, you just happen to be there for.

Out on the course, while most are still asleep, our grounds team is already at work. Mowers moving, greens being prepped, details dialed in. It’s part routine, part rhythm, and it comes with a front row seat to mornings like this.

A reminder that the beauty of this place isn’t just something you see, it’s something that unfolds throughout the day. From first light on the mountain to the last putt in the evening, it’s always changing, always giving you a different reason to pause and take it in.

GM NOTE: Lake Lure is Back - Updates on the Marina and Beach

“With the opening of Lake Lure this past Monday, we are getting closer to a full restoration of all the fun stuff that makes Rumbling Bald such a great place to live and visit. Because there are a lot of moving pieces still whirling about, I wanted to take a moment and share an update on our plans to open the marina and beach.

Our hope until about 10 days ago was to be able to complete and open the marina the first week in May. A delay in receiving the metal frames needed for Dock F is pushing back the date by at least two weeks. What we might be able to do, depending on our contractor’s approval and coordination, is move and open individual docks as each is put in place and receives final town and county inspection. My hope is to send out an update on this idea later this week.

As docks are moved, we will work to quickly open additional areas on the beach. We also hope to open the swim area once docks B, C, and E (currently in the swim area) are moved into the marina, and we can clear the beach of any debris left behind.
When it comes to the other major project in the area, outside of some fence work that remains, the seawall is complete, and the electrical service has been restored to the area. We also need to reinstall the cameras and activate the new wifi access point now in the marina area. We hope to complete that work next week.

With the lake now open to non-motorized traffic, we are working with our North Shore Beach Cabana staff to restart this venue. Since the lake is a complete no-wake zone, boat rentals are still on hold. Below is the plan as of today for the Cabana.
• As recently communicated, all member kayak racks will be relocated from Bald Mountain Lake back to their original locations on Lake Lure by the end of the day Friday, May 1st.
• From May 1st-3rd, the North Shore Beach Cabana will be offering non-motorized kayak and paddleboard rentals from a staffed tent behind the Cabana from 12-6pm.
• From May 8th-10th, we will again operate the non-motorized tent for rentals from 12-6pm.
• By May 15th, we should be ready to open the Cabana on a normal daily schedule. #atrumblingbald ...
